Let’s start a controversy.

Search Engine Round Table and Search Engine Land are pointing out that swastikas were showing up on Google Trends (as of yesterday).  Both are reporting on the Sphinn article about the same.

The swastika really is a religious symbol and not just Hindu.  It shows up all over Asia and all over Google maps of Japan and other countries.

Given it’s history, I am not saying the symbol should be accepted, at least not in the US or Europe.  The best way I can think of to solve the problem of the swastika, without offending half of Asia by removing it from unicode fonts, is to remove the fonts from your own computer, and stop visiting sites that might feature Asian languages.  And, stay away from Asian stuff, in general.
