Will it blend? Yes, it will. This cellphone has a vibrate ring option. The vibrator is a tiny 1.5v motor. I added this 4N25 optoisolator (changed to use a surface mount NEC 2705 isolator) to act as a relay (blame Covington, http://www.covingtoninnovations.com/dslr/CanonRelease.html, I got it from his page). When the phone rings, the camera takes a picture. It's that simple.
But is it practical?
Say you see a nice scene on the other side of the Grand Canyon, and you want to be in it. You set up your camera and extreme cable release. Next, get in your Jeep (tm) and head to the other side. Once you get in position (after you set up camp of course), you pose and dial the ultimate, extreme, remote shutter release to snap the picture. Now that's handy!
